38° THE BATHHOUSE

Slow House Bondi is just what I was looking for in a bathhouse. Calm, serene and relaxing. We went during a weekday at 11am. This was during both the live sounds session and silent session (no talking) - both of which are a fantastic touch. The 90 mins cost us $49 each. Pretty damn good value for money considering you get a hot pool, hot spa, plunge pool, ice baths, steam and sauna included. Other features include still/sparkling water, private bathrooms and coded lockers. There were around 15 other people during our session which felt a tad busy, but it is a shared bathhouse after all and everyone was generally respectful of the silent session. Parking is a bit difficult. We had to pay $30 in the downstairs carpark for our 1.5 hour session, with street parking scarce or not long enough.

I have been to Slow House more than twenty times, so this review is well overdue and deserved. Why 5 Stars? Many very good reasons. Expansiveness - The facility is very large, with lots of different bathhouse services (sauna, steam, ice bath, cold plunge, different spas), so even when it is busy you still feel like you have plenty of space. Cleanliness - This is obviously a place where you would want high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, and the team are constantly walking around cleaning and tidying which makes it feel very clean. Value - For the price, having 90 minutes is really good value compared to many other similar locations. Effectiveness - The variety and routine always makes me feel amazing when I leave, which is essentially why I go there. The only room for improvement is larger change room space, but I know they are working on that and it is entirely manageable as it is.
