Very disappointing stay Check-in was straightforward. I didn’t use the free Wi-Fi, so can’t comment on that. Unfortunately, the Executive King Suite itself was very disappointing. The couch was visibly stained and ripped, and there appeared to be food smeared on the carpet (photos provided). The bed sheets were also stained, which we were told were “chemical stains from the laundry.” We called reception simply to report these issues, but housekeeping was sent with a replacement pillow instead , something we hadn’t requested, so there was clearly some miscommunication. We were told everything was considered “normal,” and asked if we wanted someone to clean the food off the carpet. The TV didn’t work initially but was reset by staff the next day and worked after that. Despite having a “Do Not Disturb / No Housekeeping” sign on the door, someone walked into our room at around 8:15am while we were still in bed. We raised this with reception when checking out, but the response was essentially “sorry, and have a nice day,” which felt dismissive given the number of issues. A further point for awareness (as this may not suit everyone): the shower opening is extremely narrow — approximately 450mm wide. We are both small in stature and my husband still had to enter sideways. A shower cap is absolutely necessary, as it’s nearly impossible to avoid getting your hair wet. Our tiny home shower has more space than this. The side lamp for bed constantly flickered, so couldn't be used. The only real positives were that the bed was a proper king (no join in the middle) and it was comfortable. The pillows were all different heights, though we had brought our own. Overall, a very disappointing experience and not what we expected from Rydges as we have stayed at the previous venues which had been a positive experience (Hunter Valley and Newcastle).
